Can I Get a Linear Actuator with an Integrated Driver?

Our existing linear actuators can be divided into two main categories based on whether they include a motor:

A: LMD Series – Integrated with Open-Loop Motor

Advantages of this type of linear actuator:

  1. Easy to use – No secondary installation required.
  2. Compact size – Only an external driver and controller are needed to operate.

However, the motor type is fixed. You cannot add components such as an encoder yourself to achieve more precise control.

B: LK/LG/LA/LK2A Series – Without Any Motor Included

Advantages of this type of linear actuator:

  1. High flexibility – You can freely choose the drive motor. As long as the size fits, the motor can be an open-loop motor, a closed-loop motor with an encoder, a motor with integrated brake and encoder, etc.
  2. Easy maintenance – Even if the motor fails, you can easily replace it with a new one to ensure stable production.

However, the overall cost is relatively higher. Compared to the LMD series, you need to additionally calculate the cost of adding a motor.

Back to the main question: Can I get a linear actuator with an integrated driver?

Based on the two categories above:

  • Type A – The motor part would require separate customization (replacing the existing open-loop motor with an integrated driver & motor all-in-one). This process has a long lead time and high cost.
  • Type B – When selecting the motor, you can directly choose an all-in-one integrated driver+motor. This is our recommended solution.

For example, consider the following combination:

  • LK60-23DL103-510 linear actuator (fits standard NEMA 23 size)
  • ESS23-RS10 all-in-one integrated driver+motor (standard NEMA 23 size)

Once assembled together, you obtain a linear actuator with an integrated driver. It only needs an external controller to operate, saving you from cumbersome wiring and the space required for a separate standalone driver.

Similarly, as long as the size of the all-in-one unit meets the mounting requirements of the actuator, you are free to choose units from other brands to pair with the linear actuator after purchase – no customization needed, saving you time.
