Do I Need to Disconnect the EN Run Terminal When Activating the BK Terminal on a Brushless Drive?
Working Principle Overview
- BK (Brake) Terminal: When this signal is grounded (or receives a low-level signal), it forces the drive to immediately stop output and activate its internal braking function, bringing the motor to a quick stop.
- EN (Enable) Terminal: This acts as the main switch for the drive. The drive only accepts commands and operates the motor when the EN signal is active.

Core Logic Lies in Functional Priority
The internal logic of the drive is typically designed with "Safety First" in mind. The BK braking function, as a safety signal for emergency or rapid stopping, has a higher priority than the run signal.
Therefore, once the BK terminal is activated and grounded, regardless of the state of the EN terminal (active or inactive), the drive will prioritize executing the brake command. At this point, whether the EN terminal is grounded or not does not affect the activation of the braking function.
Conclusion: It is not necessary to additionally disconnect the EN terminal when performing a braking operation. The drive's control logic ensures that the BK function has the highest priority, simplifying the operation process and guaranteeing the timeliness and reliability of the braking action.
