Drive Recommendations for Vacuum Motors

The fundamental difference between vacuum motors and standard non-vacuum motors lies solely in the materials used. From a product structure perspective, they remain the same.

Taking a stepper motor as an example, if a stepper motor model is manufactured as a vacuum-compatible version to meet specific vacuum level requirements, but its dimensions and electrical parameters are nearly identical, then a stepper drive capable of driving the non-vacuum version of the motor can also drive this vacuum motor. However, since the drive itself is not a vacuum-rated version, it must operate in a standard atmospheric environment. Based on our experience, for the vast majority of customers who purchase custom vacuum motors, only the motor itself is used in the vacuum environment. The drive is separated from this environment and connected to the motor only via cables.

Regarding drives that themselves need to be suitable for vacuum environments, STEPPERONLINE currently does not have mature products available for this specific application.
