The Difference Between Old and New Worm Gearboxes

The following are the main differences between the old and new worm gearboxes:

Material & performance

Compared with the aluminum bronze worm gear in the old gear box, the new worm gear is made of tin bronze. The tin bronze worm gear enables the gearbox to have higher torque and strength, smoother transmission and lower noise.

Size

As shown in the figures below, we will introduce you in detail the size differences between the old and new models.

2.1 NMRVS30 vs. NMRV30:


It can be seen that the change in the 30 series is only the mounting hole spacing at the input end of the gearbox. This change will not affect installation of the NEMA 23 motor.

2.2 NMRVS40 vs. NMRV40:



As shown in the figure, the changes to the 40 series are as follows:
①The distance between the input flange end face and the output shaft becomes shorter; this change will reduce the total length of the new gearbox by 1mm.
②The positioning circle diameter of the motor input mounting hole has become larger; the outer diameter of the input mounting hole of the new gearbox has increased by 1mm compared to the old model, which will not affect the installation of the NEMA 34 motor in actual use.

2.3 NMRVS50 vs. NMRV50:



The changes in size of the 50 series are mainly reflected in the following points:

①The distance between the input flange face and the output shaft increases; the overall length of the new gearbox increases by 3mm.
②The diameter of the positioning circle of the motor input mounting hole has become larger; the outer diameter of the input mounting hole of the new gearbox has increased by 1mm compared to the old model, which does not affect the installation of the NEMA 42 motor in actual use.
③The size of the input end face becomes larger; the size of the input flange of the new gearbox is 112*112mm. Compared to the old model, the size of the input flange is 1mm larger on all sides.
④The width of the housing becomes smaller; the width of the new gearbox is reduced by 0.5mm.
⑤The distance between the mounting holes on the underside of the gearbox has become smaller; the new gearbox has been reduced by 1mm. Since it is a notch, the compatibility is actually higher.

It can be seen from the above dimensions that the size requirements for the input motor of the new gearbox are the same as those of the old model, and there will be no situation where the motor end face and the gearbox are not equipped. As for the dimensions of the box, they do not affect the overall use effect of the gear box.
