Why Do Stepper Motors Lose Step?
Regarding the out-of-step problem, first we need to determine whether the stepper motor is out of step or the error is caused by mechanical equipment. So please do the following test:
Please set the acceleration, deceleration and operating speed of the host computer to a smaller value, then set up an operating program and mark the starting position and zero position of the motor. Then run this program repeatedly. After running for a few hours, check whether there is any deviation between the mark and the zero position.
If there is no deviation, the speed setting of the motor is unreasonable, causing the motor's torque to be at a critical point, and the motor cannot provide sufficient torque, resulting in out-of-step. At this time, please try to reduce the speed of the motor or replace it with a larger motor.
If there is a deviation, there may be a problem with the motor or drive. Please try to replace the motor or driver and test whether the deviation disappears to determine whether it is a problem with the motor or the driver.
Also, check if the motor is being interfered with by other equipment. You can try grounding or shielding the motor and driver and moving them away from high-power equipment to test whether the out-of-step problem disappears.
